Started in 2020 this pocket prairie is a perfect addition to our studio space. It’s wild mix of native plants, that throughout the summer is steady buzz of pollinator activity. The gold finches have enjoyed the coreopsis seed heads, the monarchs have enjoyed the milkweed, and long list of others.
we’ve kept it low maintenance allowing the plants to find their own balance. It’s all a continual progression. Through listening to the space and seeking to find the shared harmony with the land and plants we have arrived where we are. We continue to evolve shaping and reshaping each other.
Of note, all the materials for the stone walkway were repurposed refuse for this project. The stone coming from a stranger’s disassembled fireplace collected with a friend. The plants were the hodgepodge collection of things we hand on hand.
There’s a sacredness to this frugality, nothing is wasted, all is worthy and usable. Working with what you. Have is to trust, to listen, to be guided rather than leading head strong through it. In this way, the labor is easy and the burden is light. In this way, you find yourself in the Tao.
