Isaiah chapters 9-12

This week we will conclude with the first major section of Isaiah, covering chapters 8-12. There is a lot of wonderful imagery of ‘in that day’. We see a glimpse of the Messianic hope of Isaiah, while continuing God’s judgment of Israel but also Assyria. The concluding section, chapter 12, is a wonderful doxology, a song of praise for the Lord God.

Last week we had a wonderful discussion into what faith is, looking beyond mere beliefs to life shaping action. There is a wonderful passage in Hebrews 11 which I came across today. The writer of Hebrews gives a list of examples of what faith was for the Old Testament men & women of faith. What is important to see in this passage, is the description of faith is always being described in how they did something. Then Hebrews 12 dovetails into that so perfectly, as the author exhorts us to live that live of faith. I would highly recommend reading through these two chapters as they give a wonderful picture of a living faith.
