Isaiah ch.5-8

This week we will have several things to look at; the commissioning of Isaiah, the ‘Immanuel’ passage, Ahaz the faithless king, along with a continued judgment of Jerusalem. Most importantly though, we see the work of the Lord, the ultimate plan being played out among the nations and peoples of the world.

As you read chapter 6, with the commissioning of Isaiah, really put yourself in the place of Isaiah. His words need to be our words.

Last week we had some wonderful conversations. One of those conversations centered on our responsibility to others, i.e., do I need to go to church every week or can I just stay & watch it at home. I stressed the importance of a community of faith, how we must get beyond a me centered/consumer driven expectation of church—We don’t attend church just so we can get something for ourselves. It is about what you have to offer the community. Here are two teachings which get to the heart of this issue and allow us to continue the discussion.

This first teaching, explores the relation between communal aspect of the trinity and the church community. Spoiler: We are expressing to the world who God is by those relationships!

This second recording is a sermon on being connected, though it offers a high level of exhortation. If the first teaching doesn’t cause you to love your neighbor, this one shouldn’t fail to leave you unscathed.
