christian drink of choice

guiness

I have noticed that when Christians go out for drinks, Guinness seems to be almost always the drink which is chosen. That is for Christians who it seems don’t drink often or feel that they need to act {extra} conservative in the company.

Let me give an example. Me and a couple of Christian guys go to a bar for drinks & dinner. Me and one of the guys already knew each other, but still not very well, the other guy we had just met—I say this simply to express the somewhat awkwardness of the situation. I ordered a Boulevard wheat, they both ordered Guinness.

I like wheat beers because they are real tasty with the added bonus that they are rather light, so they don’t sit heavy on your stomach. They liked Guinness because it is a such a heavy beer, something that will stick with you.

But my thought is that they like it because it is easy to say you don’t want a second beer when your first drink is something so hardy as guiness. For many Christians one beer is fine, a savoring of life if you will. But to drink even a second, is driving off into the world of AA. So many Christians find Guinness an easy in & out, and you know that’s okay.
