wordpress server

Well I finally took the time to setup a server for wordpress for myself. I haven’t messed with the style yet but it is up & running. Here is the address hiddenbehindnothing.thruhere.net
I am using DynDNS for a reroute to IP.
More to come.

Update:
I have fixed my server problems–I installed ubuntu server 8.04 with LAMP & xubuntu desktop (for my ease of use). It seems to be running a lot better than it was before. The website it definitely loading a lot faster than it was. I have put a simply view on it for at least now. I like the simple interface but I would like something slightly different. The only thing I need to do now is install a FTP server to allow remote file access.

Updated:
I didn’t realize that the webserver wasn’t working from without the intra-network. There were some other issues that I was coming across previously which I have resolved (I think) unrelated to this problem. I have tried numerous things: I’m sure I have port forwarding configed correctly, I ‘think’ I configed apache2 for external users since it is default only localhost. Any suggestions anyone?

I’m getting a timeout right now (7:24 Central), Saturday night.

    Good call on that, though.

i’ve tried several times since you posted this and i’ve yet to get an http response (i tried ports 80 and 8080), though it does ping at 70.204.126.51

i look forward to this working for you and will appreciate it vicariously. i’ve known about dyndns for years but only recently realized they have free accounts, or i would have set it up long ago back when i used to have dsl. (i used to run an ftp server for my own use, but that was using my dynamically assigned IP address that i just kept up with manually and which had frequently changed when i wanted to access it.)

well it seems that my server keeps locking up. i had a computer with ubuntu desktop already installed, i opted to just installed the needed software on top of it.
It seems to be working fine when I’m around the computer but then it locks up later on. (the computer is at my parents, so I can’t keep watch on it all the time.)
I think I’m going to wipe it & install ubuntu server & go from there.
